Institute of Careers Guidance	The Institute of Careers Guidance homepage.
Connexions	The government's support service for young people aged 13-19 in England. Advice, guidance and access to personal development opportunities. It integrates the work of 6 government departments and their agencies and organisations on the ground, together with private and voluntary sector groups and youth and careers services. The site provides help for aspiring personal advisers.
National Youth Agency	Funded primarily by the Local Government Association and government departments, NYA works to improve and extend youth services and youth work, enhance and demonstrate youth participation in society, and promote effective youth policy and provision. The site offers information on projects, learning, conferences and seminars, advocacy and much more.
Social Exclusion Unit	Set up by the Prime Minister in Dec. '97, this site aims to help improve Government action to reduce social exclusion. Read of the SEU's past achievements, current projects and future plans, as well as reports, or make an enquiry online.
National Statistics	A vast range of surveys and data on issues including those facing young people, such as unemployment, education and training, health issues and more.
Youth Clubs	A virtual youth work community. YouthOrg UK has developed an online Discussion Group for youth workers keep in touch with the latest news and developments in their field. Ask questions or help others by answering theirs. Also read the latest news, projects, products and fundraising info.

Unemployment
Department for Education and Skills	Massive but user-friendly site providing advice, research, publications, statistics and links on many topics, including those facing young people. Downloads and feedback available as well.
Low Pay Commission	Established to advise the government on all matters relating to the National Minimum Wage Act. The site provides a range of reports and press releases on its recommendations, available on the site or as downloads.
Education
National Grid for Learning	A network of selected links to web sites offering content and information on educational resources. Covers learning, support, teaching and management.
Schoolzone	Set up by a group of enthusiastic teachers and parents in Oxford. Includes 30,000 reviewed sites, 6,000 events organisers, 35,000 schools and colleges, 6,000 educational suppliers plus thousands of educational products and services.
Young offenders
The Prisons Service	The website covering all prisons in England and Wales. Useful information includes statistics, contacts for prisons, news, a library, and a number of pages covering prison life.
The Youth Justice Board	An executive non-departmental public body, established under the Crime and Disorder Act 1998. The Board seeks to rebuild communities and promote opportunities for all by preventing offences by children and young people in England and Wales. Includes the latest news and a press archive, a calendar of forth-coming events, evaluations, reports and advice.
Disabilities
Skill	The National Bureau for Students With Disabilities. Skill promotes opportunities for young people and adults with any kind of disability in post-16 education, training and employment across the UK. The site carries useful news, information, jobs, training and resources.
Ouch!	The BBC's new lifestyle website for disabled people. News and information, but also pages on living, creativity, community, humour and the wider view.
Yourable.com	Well-stocked portal for disabled people. Information on homes, motoring, travel, work and health issues. The site also offers a wide range of products and services for disabled people. Also news on disability issues.
Jobability	A partnership between Leonard Cheshire, Microsoft UK Ltd, and totaljobs.com. The site allows you to search for hundreds of positions by region, and if you like, keyword.
Irish Deaf	A complete online directory of resources and options for deaf people: organisations and clubs, deaf-owned businesses, school units, events, interpreters and more
Homelessness
Centrepoint	The national charity for homeless young people. It houses over 600 young people each night in its emergency shelters, hostels, foyers and flats across Greater London. Nationally, Centrepoint works to prevent youth homelessness by helping local groups and agencies provide housing and support for young people at risk.
Homeless Pages	A comprehensive guide to publications and information about homelessness in the UK. Through a versatile, helpful search engine, you can access a database of resources including reports, directories, websites, online articles and training courses.
Shelter	A national organisation working to improve the lives of homeless and badly housed people. Through our network of Housing Aid Centres, projects and surgeries, Shelter staff provide free, independent to over 100,000 people each year throughout England and Scotland.
Volunteering
do-it	One massive central database of volunteering opportunities, with a good search tool for finding a role relevant to your interests and location. The site is part of YouthNet UK, the charity behind thesite.org
The National Centre for Volunteering	A range of services designed to support volunteer managers and organisations that involve volunteers. This site provides a vast range of helpful guidance, publications, news and links.
VSO	International development charity that works through volunteers aged 17-70. Along with listings of many various volunteer posts, the site provides news and information, publications and campaigns.
Youth Express Network	One of our European partner organisations. YEN promotes and supports training and exchanges of young people, youth leaders and youth and social workers across European. They work to improve the lives of young people with underprivileged backgrounds, and also inform public opinion and political decision-makers about problems faced by their target groups.
