| Connexions provides information, advice, guidance and personal development opportunities to all young people aged 13 - 19 in England, or up to 25 if they have a Learning Difficulty and / or Disability
North London Connexions covers the four boroughs of Barnet, Enfield, Haringey and Waltham Forest and has established a network of Personal Advisers to deliver high quality services to young people.
Connexions North London is already making a difference to young people but its future success depends on building effective partnerships with local organisations. Connexions can help to support and build on the valuable work carried out locally and work with partners to achieve shared objectives. |
Involving Young People |
| A key feature of Connexions is involving young people and the views of young people are at the heart of the service . The Young People's Partnership Board are a group of young people who are involved in all aspects of design and delivery of the service - for example the recruitment of the Chief Executive. They have received training to help them carry out their role including corporate governance. One of the original members has just started university and several new members have recently joined the YPPB. |
Connexions Personal Advisers and Keyworkers |
Every young person has the offer of support from a Personal Adviser or Keyworker to help deal with the variety of issues they face, so they can make choices and help realize their full potential for the future. PAs have a wide variety of backgrounds including:
- Youth Service
- Department of Health
- Careers Service
- Youth Justice Board
- Social Services
- Voluntary sector organisations
PAs work in different ways - some are centre-based, others go into schools and colleges or are based with partner organisations such as 331 and youth offending teams. |
