Engineering a
successful future

Sheffield Hallam University has launched a new Foundation
Degree in Railway Engineering, suitable for people who wish to
enter a career in railway engineering and those already employed
in the industry. We developed this course jointly with Network Rail
and other railway companies.

The two year course is both academic and practical, reflecting the
needs of the rail industry with three specialist routes through the
course.

signal engineering
civil and track engineering
electrical and mechanical engineering

It also features a five month structured work placement in the rail
industry within each of the two years.

Benefits of this course

provides opportunities to gain sponsorship and employment

the option of a further year of study to achieve a qualification
of BEng(Honours) Railway Engineering
an average salary of £14000 pro rata will be paid for each of
the five month work placements
a part-time route is available for those who already work in the
industry but may want further qualifications
