Career Prospects

The Motor Industry is one of the most dynamic and innovative sectors of the economy and requires high quality applicants for demanding roles.
Technological developments have led to a greater dependence on electronic and computer based technology in the operation, maintenance and repair of vehicles.
These advances have resulted in a requirement for highly trained individuals who specialise in specific aspects of vehicle repair.
Achievement of a Modern Apprenticeship can lead to a wide range of supervisory and managerial positions all underpinned by internationally recognised qualifications.
There is currently a shortage of skilled personnel in most specialisms ensuring that skilled, hard working people are highly valued and can command attractive employment packages. |

Who are Skillnet and what do we do?
Skillnet is a company dedicated to placing trainees as apprentices with motor trade employers.
Put simply, if you can think of a job you would like to train for in a garage, we will look for a suitable vacancy for you.
Through our network of motor trade employers, we are able to find training for the vast majority of 16 to 18 year-olds who come to us, even if you have no formal qualifications.
You will join a garage as an apprentice and Skillnet will appoint an Assessor to look after you. Your Assessor will be responsible for organising your training programme and monitoring your progress towards completing your apprenticeship. |

Everyone is welcome
We operate and promote a policy of equal opportunities throughout the whole of the work-based training process. This is reflected in our recruitment practices where we welcome applicants from all persons regardless of sex, marital status, race, disability, colour, sexual orientation, nationality or ethnic origin. We aim to treat trainees fairly and equally during the training programme and ensure that you know what to do if you have a complaint.
There is an under-representation of people from ethnic minority backgrounds and women in the Motor industry. We therefore warmly welcome applicants from these groups. |
